Desctription
An evening shower in Shono is shown in this scene. Unable to face the sudden downpour, the travelers scurry up a slope. It is all they can do just to endure the rain, and no one has the energy to speak. The sky quickly darkens, and a bamboo grove behind the path is seemingly shown in silhouette. Hiroshige excels at rainy scenes, and this is one of his most famous.
